The Sharks' senior grade team commenced in Division Four of the Eastern Football League in 2012 when they finished a creditable eighth out of eleven clubs. In 2014 they obtained promotion to Division Three as losing grand finalists (to Silvan). The ensuing couple of seasons saw them consolidating at that level before achieving premiership success for the first time in 2017. Second after the home and away rounds they accounted for Templestowe in the qualifying final by 41 points and Ringwood by a point in the second semi final to set up a grand final clash with Heathmont. It proved to be a closely fought affair, but the Sharks always maintained the initiative and they ultimately eased home by 15 points, 12.6 (78) to 9.9 (63). Promoted to Division Two as a consequence of this success the Sharks consolidated well, winning 9 of their 18 matches to finish fifth.
